DIY - Bite-sized Cakes

Delicate petit fours without the fuss

Delicate miniature cakes are perfect to serve at an afternoon tea, or along with tea and coffee. But if freshly baking cakes falls to the bottom of your priority list in the lead up to your event, then we have a sneaky little solution for you.

These bite-sized cakes don’t exactly fall under the ‘recipe’ category, as the trickiest part is just deciding what topping you prefer and assembling the delicious morsels.

DIY Delicate Mini Cakes  

Prep Time: 15 minutes 
Makes: approx 10 mini cakes 

One store-bought Madeira Cake
300ml Double Cream
50gm Icing Sugar + extra for  dusting
Vanilla Essence
Edible Flowers to decorate
1. Whip the cream, icing sugar and vanilla together until soft peaks form and transfer to a piping bag.
2. Slice the madeira cake approximately 1 1/2 inches thick and using a small round cookie cutter, cut out circles.
3. Arrange the mini cakes on your serving plate, pipe a small amount of cream on top of each cake and dress with edible flowers or small berries.
4. Dust with icing sugar and serve immediately.
